Momentum Builds as Playoffs Loom in Indy

IN THE SPOTLIGHT: Brandon Jones and the No. 19 1st Foundation team head to Indianapolis Motor Speedway this weekend after a very strong run at Darlington Raceway. Constructed in 1909, the 2.5-mile flat rectangular oval brings a lot of nostalgia with a lengthy motorsports history. This is Jones’ fourth career-start for the 250-mile race with its four distinct turns and flat straightaways, and it will have a lot of unknowns.  This is one of Jones’ strongest tracks and he has finished in the top-10 in all three of his starts on the historic track. A win there would be huge.

JGR AT INDIANAPOLIS MOTOR SPEEDWAY: JGR has a total of 22 starts at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Of those 22 starts, JGR has three wins, four poles, eight top-five finishes, 13 top-10 finishes, an average start of 5.3 and an average finish of 10.4. Kyle Busch won each of the three team’s victories in the years 2013, 2015 and 2016.

RACE INFO:  Indiana 250 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway (2.5-mile) begins at 3:00 p.m. ET on Saturday, September 7, 2019. The race will be broadcast live on NBCSN, SiriusXM Channel 90 and IMS Radio.

From the Cockpit:

Brandon Jones: “Darlington was a good, fun race for us to get back on track as we close in on the playoffs. I’m looking forward to getting to Indianapolis Motor Speedway this weekend — it’s such a breathtaking track. I’ve raced there several times and I still get goosebumps every time I go through the tunnel. We’ve always been very competitive there, and even though we’re fairly confident in our footing inside the top-12, it would still mean the world to my 1st Foundation team to be able to get a victory at such a historic track. I’ll do a lot of studying this week to review our past races there, as well as our strengths and weaknesses to be sure that we can pick right up where we left off when we unload later this week.”
