Feeling Fast Headed to Road America

IN THE SPOTLIGHT: Road America will be the marquee race this weekend with the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series having an off-weekend. This will be Brandon Jones’ third road-course race of the 2019 NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) and fourth career-start at Road America. The historic track is located midway between the cities of Milwaukee and Green Bay in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. Road America is the longest course on the schedule at 4.048-miles in length and is very challenging with its 14 unique turns. The track features many elevation changes and very high speeds on the lengthy frontstretch.  Jones has been working hard to prepare for this weekend with crew chief Jeff Meendering and his Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) teammates on his road course techniques. He will be running the Trans Am 2 race again this year and they believe they can produce strong results for the 45-lap NXS race.

JGR AT ROAD AMERICA: JGR has 25 NXS starts at Road America. The team has earned four top-five finishes and 12 top-10 finishes with an average start of 8.0 and an average finish of 13.8. The team has earned one pole starting position, led 107 laps and completed 1,208 of 1,242 attempted laps (97.3%).

RACE INFO: The CTECH Manufacturing 180 at Road America is scheduled for Saturday, August 24, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. ET. Watch and listen live on NBCSN, SiriusXM Channel 90 and MRN Radio.

Brandon Jones: “Our 1st Foundation team has a lot of momentum right now, and I’m excited to head to Road America this week carrying forward all of the speed and positive energy that we had in Bristol. The course at Road America is unlike any other road course on our schedule, mainly because it’s just so long at 4.048 miles. There are some extremely high speed corners, but then there’s also some fun elevation changes. We’ll definitely be trying to make the most of our time at the Toyota simulator this week with me trying to get in as many laps as possible. I’ll also be climbing back into a Trans-Am car this weekend to help me prepare for Saturday’s Xfinity Series race. I’ve done a lot of extra work over the last few weeks to prepare and help my performance at these road course races. More than that, my focus is on the playoffs, and I’m hoping this will all help give me an edge when we get to the Roval at Charlotte later this year.”
