Early Contact Leads To Early Finish In Dover

NASCAR XFINITY Series – Drive Sober 200
September 30, 2017 – Dover International Speedway
No. 33 Anderson’s Pure Maple Syrup Chevrolet Camaro

Brandon Jones and the No. 33 Anderson’s Pure Maple Syrup team finished 39th at Dover International Speedway on Saturday afternoon. After placing third in final practice and qualifying 15th, Jones got loose on the fifth lap of the event and spun down the racetrack. Another competitor failed to slow down and made contact with Jones’ Anderson’s Pure Maple Syrup machine. The ‘self-cleaning’ race track left Jones down on the apron and unable to get his car turned back around to continue in the competition. Instead, he was credited with a 39th-place finish.

“I was really looking forward to running our No. 33 Anderson’s Pure Maple Syrup Chevrolet today. I knew we could have a solid run starting from the 15th position, but once again bad luck got us way too early in the race. A couple of us were really close together getting into the corner of Turn 4. The aero package just got us and spun me around. I wanted to keep running even though we had damage, but unfortunately my day had to stop. I hate this happened, but want to thank Anderson’s for joining us this weekend, and earlier this year.”

This weekend, the XFINITY Series will have one last “home” race at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Saturday, October 7 for the Drive For The Cure 300 presented by Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina. NBCSN will carry a live broadcast of the event beginning at 3 p.m. ET, while radio coverage will be provided by PRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, channel 90.
