NASCAR XFINITY Series – DC Solar 200
March 18, 2017 – Phoenix International Raceway
No. 33 Chevy Truck Month Chevrolet Camaro
Brandon Jones and the No. 33 Chevy Truck Month Chevrolet team finished 15th at Phoenix Raceway on Saturday afternoon. A delay in technical inspection prevented the team from making it to the grid in time for qualifying, listing Jones among the eight drivers to start from the back of the pack for similar reasons. Battling his way from a 37th-place starting position, Jones was scored 15th when the checkered flag waved.
“The team worked really hard all weekend long on our No. 33 Chevy Truck Month Chevrolet Camaro and we got a decent finish out of it. The handling improved a lot during the race from where it was during practice, but unfortunately our short run was not as strong as we needed it to be. We did well at the drop of the green flag and I was able to climb up from the back since we didn’t get a chance to qualify. Those cautions at the end of the race just sent us a little too far backward. It wasn’t the finish we deserved, but it was an improvement. I’m proud of the support from Chevrolet and all my guys on the No. 33 team.”
The series will conclude their annual “West Coast swing” this weekend with a stop at Auto Club Speedway for the NXS 300 on Saturday, March 25. FS1 will carry a live broadcast of the event beginning at 4 p.m. ET, while radio coverage will be provided by the Motor Racing Network and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, channel 90.
