Finished 25th in Road America

NASCAR XFINITY Series – Johnsonville 180
August 27, 2017 – Road America
No. 33 Jeld-Wen/Menards Chevrolet Camaro

Brandon Jones and the No. 33 Jeld-Wen/Menards Chevrolet team finished 25th at Road America on Sunday afternoon. With heavy rain passing through the area on Sunday morning, qualifying was cancelled and the starting order was set per the NASCAR Rule Book, which left Jones to roll off in the 22nd position. The Jeld-Wen / Menards team moved into the top 15, where they spent the majority of the race, but two late-race pit road penalties cost the team valuable track position and relegated them to a 25th-place finish.

“That certainly wasn’t the day we expected to have in our No. 33 Jeld-Wen /Menards Chevrolet. Starting 22nd due to being lined up by owner points after weather cancelled qualifying, we were making some good headway in gaining track position. We ran in the top 15 for most of Stage 1 and 2. Unfortunately, we had some issues with speeding on pit road twice in a row during the final stage, which killed our forward movement. We had a decent car otherwise, but just had a couple errors that cost us the finish we deserved.”

Jones currently sits 16th in NASCAR XFINITY Series driver point standings. Next, the series will travel to Darlington Raceway on Saturday, September 2 for the Sports Clips Haircuts VFW 200. NBCSN will carry a live broadcast of the event beginning at 3:30 p.m. ET, while radio coverage will be provided by MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, channel 90.
