NASCAR NCWTS Series – Buckle Up In Your Truck 225
July 6, 2017 – Kentucky Speedway
No. 33 Chigo Chevrolet Silverado
On Thursday evening, following a lengthy weather delay, the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) took the green at Kentucky Speedway in Sparta, Ky., for the Buckle Up In Your Truck 225. NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) regular Brandon Jones was behind the wheel of the MDM Motorsports No. 99 Chigo Chevrolet once again, looking for another solid run.
Teams took to the track Thursday for two practice sessions. On Friday, rain forced NASCAR officials to cancel NCWTS qualifying. Starting positions for the Buckle Up In Your Truck 225 were set by owners points. Jones lined up 16th and when the green flag flew wasted no time working his way to the front. Due to the rain throughout the day, the track lacked grip all race long. Multiple drivers had issues hanging on to their race trucks. With just a handful of laps remaining, Jones found himself running second, and catching the leader. The 20-year-old Georgia native was able to get to his bumper but ran out of laps to make the pass. That second-place finish was his third career NCWTS runner-up finish and MDM Motorsports’ best finish in its short history.
“First of all, I want to thank Chigo for coming on board this weekend,” said Jones. “Our MDM Motorsports team definitely had a shot to win. There were so many things I was trying to do those last few laps-keep air on the fender, not follow his runs down the hill, trying to play mind games, trick him out. Basically, I was trying everything I could think of. It was a pretty evenly matched deal; you just needed to be out front. If we were out front, I think we would’ve pulled away just like they did. I’m really proud of the effort of our Chigo team; they put together another great truck this weekend.”
Helping power the No. 99 MDM Motorsports entry to its best finish in team history was Chigo Air Conditioners. Globally-recognized as a leading manufacturer of high-quality air conditioners and dehumidifiers, Chigo Air Conditioning employs approximately 20,000 people throughout its factory campus in China and global offices. “It was definitely a privilege to be able to represent Chigo this weekend at Kentucky Speedway,” said Jones. “They’re a leader within their industry, so it’s awesome to be able to take their brand and also be leaders on the track. We had a group of 20+ of their employees at the track with us last weekend, so I’m really glad that we were able to put on a good show for them.”
Next for the NCWTS is Eldora Speedway on Wednesday, July 19, at 9:30 p.m. on FOX Business News.
