Brandon Jones Caught In “The Big One” Finishes 37th in Talladega

NASCAR XFINITY Series – Sparks Energy 300
May 06, 2017 – Talladega Superspeedway
No. 33 Nexteer Chevrolet Camaro

Brandon Jones and the No. 33 Nexteer Chevrolet team finished 37th at Talladega Superspeedway on Saturday afternoon. After leading final practice and starting the race in the fifth position, Jones was running inside the top 20 when “the big one” broke out and his Nexteer Chevrolet was collected in the carnage.

During practice at the at the Talledega Superspeedway in Talledega, AL.

“Once again, we had another very fast No. 33 Nexteer Chevrolet Camaro at a superspeedway, and just like at Daytona, we got taken out way too early again due to someone else’s wreck. I’m not sure if it’s a product of the stage racing or what, but everyone was just driving so aggressively so early into the race and this is the result of that. I’m alright – that hit was like a night and day difference from Daytona – but it still sucks just as much. I hate it for everyone involved at RCR, ECR and Chevy. My team worked so hard all weekend to give me a shot at the win and it came to an end way too early.”

Jones currently sits 15th in NASCAR XFINITY Series driver point standings. Next, the series will travel to Charlotte Motor Speedway on Saturday, May 27 for the Hisense 4k TV 300. FS1 will carry a live broadcast of the event beginning at 1 p.m. ET, while radio coverage will be provided by PRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, channel 90.
