NASCAR XFINITY Series – Atlanta 250
March 06, 2017 – Atlanta Motor Speedway
No. 33 Anderson’s Maple Syrup Chevrolet Camaro
Brandon Jones and the No. 33 Anderson’s Maple Syrup team finished a hard-earned 14th while racing their back-up car at Jones’ hometown track on Saturday afternoon. Jones was forced to use his back-up car after an ill-timed flat tire during Friday’s second practice session put the No. 33 Chevrolet Camaro hard into the wall. With most of the second practice remaining, the Anderson’s Maple Syrup team quickly unloaded and prepared Jones’ back-up car to be ready for the final practice. Crew chief Nick Harrison and Jones spent the final practice dialing in the car for Saturday’s race where their hard work paid off with Jones’ first top-15 finish of the season, which moved him to 17th in the NASCAR XFINITY Series driver points standings.
“Not a bad weekend for us after all we went through. My team and I definitely had a never- give-up attitude and it showed. We had a fast No. 33 Anderson’s Maple Syrup Chevrolet Camaro to start, but then got forced to the back-up car during second practice when a tire went down and we didn’t qualify where we wanted. So it was an up and down weekend for sure. We got the car handling really well during the race so we were able to make up a lot of ground and finish strong. I definitely have some stuff to work on but happy overall with the result this weekend.”
This week, the series travels to Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the Boyd Gaming 300 on Saturday, March 11. FS1 will carry a live broadcast of the event beginning at 4 p.m. ET, while radio coverage will be provided by PRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, channel 90.
