Brandon Jones Races Back Into The Top-10 in Kansas

NASCAR XFINITY Series – Kansas Lottery 300
October 15, 2016 – Kansas Speedway
No. 33 Eljer/Menards Chevrolet Camaro

Brandon Jones and the No. 33 Eljer/Menards team raced to an eighth-place finish at Kansas Speedway on Saturday afternoon. After starting in the 14th position, Jones had already moved into the top 10 after just five laps. The rookie contender navigated the high, middle and lower grooves throughout most of afternoon en route to his 12th top-10 finish of the 2016 season. Jones’ charge to the front was momentarily stalled on lap 166 as traffic in front of his No. 33 Chevrolet Camaro checked up unexpectedly and Jones accidentally made contact with another competitor setting of a chain-reaction accident. Escaping with minimal damage, the No. 33 Eljer/Menards crew quickly got Jones back in the action where he was able to regain his top-10 position and continued to work through the field to an eighth-place finish.

“This Eljer/Menards Chevrolet Camaro was one of the best mile-and-a-half cars we’ve had all season. We put ourselves in a position multiple times to get inside the top 10, but it certainly wasn’t easy. I hate I got into the back of the No. 7 (Justin Allgaier) going into Turn 1, but I had gotten my speed up to move forward when they all checked up ahead of me as we entered into the corner. It’s just part of racing. We had to fight hard all day long to keep ourselves in the top 10, and I’m happy that we ended the day in eighth. I’m looking to going to Texas Motor Speedway in a couple of weeks, because that has always been one of our better tracks.”

The XFINITY Series travels to Texas Motor Speedway for the O’Reilly Auto Parts Challenge on Saturday, November 5. NBC will broadcast the race live beginning at 3:30 p.m. ET, while radio coverage will be provided by PRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, channel 90.
