Brandon Jones and the No. 8 Valvoline/Menards Chevrolet team finished fourth in the ARCA Racing Series finale at Kansas Speedway on Friday evening. After heavy mist covered the track, morning practice and Menards Pole Qualifying presented by Ansell were cancelled. Jones started the 100-lap event in the 25th position, as the field was lined up according to points. Once the green flag waved, Jones charged his way to the front and moved into the top five after just 25 laps. Jones quickly made his way to the third spot, but experienced a tire failure as his right rear tire went flat on lap 42. Beginning his limp back to pit road under green flag conditions, the three-time ARCA Racing Series winner went a lap down before the caution flag finally waved. Dropping as far back as 17th, Jones fought back throughout the second half of the race to take the checkered flag in the fourth position.
“It seems like our Valvoline/Menards team just can’t catch a break,” said Jones. “We ran five ARCA Racing Series events this season, and I feel like we should’ve had at least four wins if we could’ve had luck fall our way. The cars that Ranier Racing with MDM builds are on fire every week. I always know that no matter what happens in practice or qualifying, we’ll be able to be in contention once we get to the race. I’ve really enjoyed racing with them this season and I’m proud of everything that we were able to accomplish together.”
