Jones’ Night Comes to an Early End at Phoenix

NASCAR Camping World Truck Series – Lucas Oil 150
November 13, 2015 – Phoenix International Raceway
No. 33 Lucas Oil Chevrolet Silverado

Brandon Jones, driver of the No. 33 Lucas Oil Chevrolet, made his second-career NASCAR Camping World Truck Series start Friday night in the Lucas Oil 150. Jones qualified in the seventh position, relaying to the team that the Lucas Oil Chevrolet was free throughout all three rounds of qualifying. As the green flag waved on the Lucas Oil 150, Jones fell into line in the eighth position and immediately began working on gaining track position. Six laps into the race, Jones was working patiently to make the pass for seventh before an on-track incident resulted in heavy damage to the No. 33 Lucas Oil Chevrolet and an early end to Jones’ night.

The No. 33 Lucas Oil Chevrolet was scored in the 32nd position and is now 10th in the owner championship point standings.

We had a really strong Lucas Oil Chevrolet tonight. Unfortunately, it didn’t go the way we had planned. I worked on getting around the No. 9 for a couple of laps and thought I had cleared him, but he had momentum on the top. I hate that our night was cut short, but we’ve got another shot at a win next week and I know this GMS Racing team will have another fast Chevrolet for Homestead. – Brandon Jones
